2007 Te Mata Cape Crest Sauvignon Blanc. Aromas of cape gooseberry, wet stone, fresh red currant giving a pleasant flinty slightly prickly feeling on the nose. The palate is dead pure gooseberry, pears and guava and long filmy texture. Fresh and amazingly refined and ripe acids linger forever. There is a lot going on here. It is light-footed, complex interesting and ultra classy. Is there a more sophisticated Sauvignon Blanc in New Zealand?? If so I haven’t tasted it. Superb wine. Absolutely stellar and at the price it’s a must buy for any who doubts the potential for class that this variety offers. 100/109
