2007 Shingle Peak Sauvignon Blanc. To be honest I am a bit of a snob. It is kind of unavoidable as a critic and enthusiast. Common, commercial and large production wines that grace the pages of the Foodtown mailer seem to lose the attraction that a rare boutique wine may exert. However on tasting this wine a few days ago it is clear that this drink offers more than an average experience. Once more on special at under $10 a bottle, it is insanely good buying!!

The nose of this wine is riddled with passionfruit, lemongrass, ripe limes, and hints of gooseberry. The palate shows plenty of tropical fruits with passionfruit lime and melon predominating. The flavours are tropical yet the structure is classical, clean, defined and long. It shows all the varietal character of a wine twice the price and is very drinkable. It is juicy, exuberant and alive. It is made in huge numbers and it is fair to expect a little bottle variation but this bottle was a sensation. 95/109
