2006 Fromm La Strada Spaltlese Riesling. We enjoyed this bottle in a classy tapas bar on the foreshore of Queenstown. The nose is of green apple and sherbet, very clean and deep set. The palate is very textural – crisp and clean but showing plenty of depth and layering. The balance of this wine is perfect between the texture and sweetness provided by the sugar and the structure, freshness and vitality provided by the ripe juicy acids. The finish is long, soft and clean. A masterpiece of a Riesling which has improved noticeably since release 98/109
