2005 Unison Selection. Our love affair with this label seems to never tire. The colour displayed in the glass is a youthful vibrant crimson red in the glass. The nose dark concentrated tarry blackberry, blueberry and blood. It is all beautifully deep set. The palate is awesome, silky and filmy with deep set and highly concentrated fruit. There is still a little toasty oak showing; it isn’t really noticeable unless you are a wine writer looking to dissect the wine. The oak should further integrate over the coming two or three years. The tannins are gorgeously ripe and mouth coating. It all leads to a long serious finish. This is a layered wine of depth and substance. There is an exciting mid term future ahead of this vintage. It seems to have put on some weight and become more organised since release which is great to see. Drink 2009-2012. 99+/109
