2008 Turanga Creek Late Harvest Viognier. We are introduced to aromas of mango, pineapple and sweet mandarin. The palate includes flavours of white peach, mango, palm sugar, caramel crème and peach stone. It has a silky texture with a balance between sweet fruit and more spicy floral components. It has a long lingering finish. It was a style of wine not often seen and it split the camp. Mel and I found it surprisingly good while Dave wasn’t quite so taken. Scores split at 91/109. I found it the type of wine that you could happily drink more than one glass of. The complexity and interest was excellent.
