2008 Black Estate Riesling. Wow this wine really impressed Dave, Mel and I when we cracked it tonight. The nose is mecurial and changes as the wine warms starting out with subdued deep aromas of beeswax and creamed honey. As it warms a little it transforms into white peach and citrus zest aromas with a minerally edge. The palate is crystal clean and lively with flavours of fresh just ripe nectarine, orange zest and tangelo. It has gorgeous definition, balance and a long lingering finish. Just off dry in style, the sweetness provides some texture and softness to the wine without over doing it. Its restrained firmness and definition should see this wine cellar well. Impressive 96/109
