2009 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc. Obviously a superior vintage to the 2008, this Cloudy Bay seems very minerally and flinty with lemon, lemon grass and gooseberry like fruit with an almost smoky gunflint element to proceedings. All in all this is a solid wine with plenty of depth and dimension. It doesn’t razzle dazzle but provides an intellectual and reasonably restrained expression of this classic Marlborough style. Definitely a wine where you reach for a second glass. 94/109
