2008 Fromm La Strada Spatlese Riesling. Wow this label is just such a superstar. Can it put a foot wrong? Unlike us "no" seems the answer. Our first bottle of this fell out of the fridge and smashed on the floor without us tasting a drop. Smelt good though. Then I deleted the picture i took off my camera by mistake so no bottle shot sorry! On to the note:
It is slightly more coloured than I remember previous vintages on release, but still very pale with just dashes of straw. The nose introduces notes of sherbet and green apple. The palate is mouth watering, fresh and complex with gorgeous depth and layering of flavour. Tangelo, mandarin and fresh granny smith apple abound. The balance between the icing sugar sweetness and ripe clean and sweet acidity is perfect. The 7% alcohol reading means you can make a bit of a pig of yourself without becoming a drunken fool. It is a brilliant wine and a “must buy”. 101/109
